The Frankfurt Börse (stock exchange) building was constructed in a neo-renaissance style between 1874-1879. Frankfurt has been a trading place since the 9th century and became famous for its trade fairs in the Middle Ages. In 1585, a bourse was set up–the forerunner of the globalized financial market Frankfurt represents today.
